Dry Fix Roof Systems

Dry Fix Roof Systems

Dry roof fixings are maintenance-free and help secure your roof

Dry ridge / dry verge systems offer a low-maintenance, more secure roof than traditional mortar cement. Adverse weather and natural movement of your property will cause mortar holding your ridge tiles in place to crack and deteriorate over time leading to roof tiles becoming loose. Ideally, your ridge tiles should be re-cemented every 10 years or so. The dry ridge system however, ensures that the ridge tiles are firmly fixed in place and need no maintenance for 50 years or more. Together with dry verge capping around the sides of a roof, the system makes the roof more secure against storm damage.

It’s recommended that dry fix systems are used whenever you have a new or replacement roof installed. However, the system can also be used on older roofs too. But, as with everything, they need to be properly installed by professional roofer like E.Riding & Humber Roofing. The old mortar needs to be completely removed before the dry ridge system is installed. This takes a little more time, but ensures that the ridge tiles are properly secured in place. Our expert roofers ensure that every job we undertake is done properly and to a high standard.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dry Fix Roof Systems

What’s the main benefit of Dry Roof Fixings?

Dry ridge/dry verge fixings not only help secure your roof against storm damage but are maintenance-free for up to 50 years. Traditional mortar cement methods of securing ridge tiles need to be maintained every 10 years or so, so dry roof fixings have a clear advantage over mortar.

Is dry ridge waterproof?

Yes. Dry ridge is totally waterproof preventing rainwater from seeping into the roof space. With traditional mortar cement fixing, when a ridge tile becomes loose or is missing, your roof will absolutely leak.

Can Dry Ridge be fitted to an existing roof?

Yes, absolutely. Provided the roof is in good condition, dry ridge / dry verge fixings will help to make your existing roof more secure against wind damage.
